Don’t forget your nametag, show and tell and food drive donation.

Fat Quarter drawing for July- Stars and/or Stripes

President’s Message

Shannon P.

Happy summer, well maybe.  With all this rain, I just want to stay in and sew.  Hopefully a little sewing will be done and then when the sun comes back, enjoy some great time outside! As you read this I'm on vacation!! I hope everyone has a great time enjoying the quilt show in Sisters and our exciting speaker, Violet Craft!

Remember that the guild meeting is a week later this month!  I will see everyone at our show, wear your guild t-shirt if you have one and your name tag. Also, please buy your raffle tickets.  We are behind in our ticket sales.  We use this money to help pay for our amazing speakers!  Last but not least, I want to thank the members that donated quilts for Oklahoma.  12 quilts were donated to the victims of the tornado in Moore.  I was completely humbled by this gracious showing of care.  Thank you so much!

Hospitality for the July 15 Guild Meeting

Erin B. and Lindsey K.

Jody F. has volunteered to bring beverages and Ardie Y., Susan M., and Anita F. have volunteered to bring snacks. If you find you are not able to bring what you volunteered to contribute, please call Erin B. or Lindsey K.  The meeting begins at 6:45 pm.  As always, please turn your cell phones off before the meeting.

2013 MBQG 30th Anniversary Committee

For our featured quilt display at our August show we will be showing Challenge Quilt winners and Viewers' Choice winners from our past shows. This will include those quilts shown at our Sisters display plus any others that are available. If you have one of these you are willing to show let us know the name of the quilt and the size. There will be a clipboard at the July meeting, or you can email us at MBQG.30years@gmx.com

2013 Quilt Raffle Ticket Sales- Tickets available at the July 15 Guild Meeting

Mary Ann B.

Tickets are available during the July meeting.  Kayla H. will be selling them.  Thank you to the members who have purchased tickets.  Our raffle ticket sales are much lower than they should be by this time of year.  We really need to sell these tickets to fund our guild’s programs.  Members are encouraged to sell raffle tickets to family and friends to help with our fundraiser.  Thank you!

2013 Quilt Challenge-Quilts Due July 15

Rosie W. and Kathleen G. for Sylvia K.

The 2013 Challenge Quilt display and judging will occur at the monthly meeting on Monday July 15th.  We are asking that all participants bring their quilts to the meeting by 6:30 so they can be hung up.  Ballots will be distributed to members who will vote for their first and second favorites. Please be sure that a cloth label is sewn on the back.  All participants need to collect their quilts at the end of the meeting so they can be registered for the August Quilt Show in the Park.  The registration will occur at a later date.  There will also be one award given for viewer’s choice from the quilt show.  Awards will be given out at the September guild meeting.
We are looking forward to seeing many interesting quilts.  Thank you for your participation. If you have questions please call Sylvia at 541-383-1483

Quilt Show Details

?Quilt Collection and Sales Table Collection Information

Friday, August 09, 2013, 10am – 3pm

Bend Parks & Recreation District Office ‘Community Room’.

The BPRD District Office is @ 799 SW Columbia Street located adjacent to Riverbend Park.

Quilt Collection:

Quilt entry forms will be available at the July Guild meeting. Please fill out your ‘Entry Form’ at home before you arrive with your quilts. This saves on time and confusion at check in. Please do not pin the forms onto your quilts. Our pinning committee will take care of that.

*Entry forms for quilts will be available at the July meeting or on-site at collection.

Sales Table Collection:

Have some sewing supplies, books, fabric or anything else related to quilting that you’d like to sell? Have stuff laying around that you just don’t use and don’t know what to do with? This is your opportunity to clean out your closet and your sewing room. Bundle magazines, bag up notions (zip lock), and box up that day lamp that just doesn’t fit on your sewing table. Clean up your creative space, put a little change in your pocket and support our guild!!!

***Please do not use the Sales form on Website!   We have redone the layout and will bring copies to the July

meeting.  Also, watch for details and directions about the Sales Table in a separate email.

Quilt Show Day- Set Up and Break Down

Saturday, August 10, 2013

Pioneer Park in Bend, corner of Wall St. and Portland Ave.

We need lots of help for set-up and break down.

Help of husbands and teenagers would be appreciated for both set up and break down. The more help the better! It goes quickly and it’s lots of fun!!!

Set up: Please arrive at 7 am to help with set up. We need every able-bodied person we can get to set up the quilt frames and hang the quilts.

Break down: At 4:00 pm we will be taking down the quilts, taking apart the frames and loading up the truck.

*There’s no need for husbands to stay at the park all day – let them go play! They are definitely welcome to stay if they’d like. J

A few volunteers still needed!

We need help with storing/transporting the quilts to a safe place on Friday night before the show.  Also, any help with SET UP, which includes helping transport the frames from Sisters would be appreciated.   Please email me at  slmondry@msn.com if you can help in either of these positions.

Oh yes, don’t forget about the potluck!!! Make your favorite dish to share. Better yet, make your quilting friend’s favorite dish! Information will be shared at the July meeting by our Potluck Chair, Charlotte O.

Remember, if you have a MBQG t-shirt wear it to the show. It would also be appreciated if you’d wear your nametag during quilt show also.

Thank you to everyone who has signed up to work on the various committees.  I know we will have a wonderful 30th Anniversary Quilt Show!

Community Food Drive for the July 15 Guild Meeting

Diana L.

Please bring canned pears and peaches for July’s donation to the Food Pantry.  The Food Pantry at Nativity Lutheran Church serves many people in the community.  We accept food or monetary donations.  Thank you for all the support.

Community Quilts- Next Meeting July 17, 11-3 at Nativity Lutheran Church

Jane D., Diana L., Bev P., Lora F., or Jean M.

As usual, Community Quilts will meet on the Wednesday after the Guild meeting, which means July 17th.  We meet at Nativity Lutheran Church, located at the corner of SE Knott and Brosterhaus, from 11 till nearly 3.  If you don't have a Community quilt project in progress, we can get you started with one using one of our kits or from fabric we have on hand.    Bring your sewing machine and sewing supplies, as well as your lunch.

Anyone is welcome to join us--we meet every Wednesday at the church.   The only exception is July 24th--we can't meet that day because the church is holding vacation bible school that week.  Please contact one of us if you have questions.

Our Guild Library

Linda M.

The July raffle book is Bloom Creek Quilts, by Vicki Bellino.  These quilts combine traditional patchwork with appliqué shapes for projects ranging from wall hangings to bed-sized quilts, plus a great tote bag and pillow. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5.  The new book added to the library this month is Big-Print Patchwork, by Sandy Turner.  Books donated by members added to the library this month are:  Thimbleberries Classic Country by Lynette Jensen, Easy Pieces, Creative Color Play with Two Simple Quilt Blocks, by Margaret J. Miller, and Machine Applique for the Terrified Quilter, by Sharon Pederson.

The Library cabinet will be moving out of QuiltWorks, probably before the meeting. Members will no longer be able to check out or return books to QuiltWorks.  To check out or return a book, contact me directly (lmulholland@bendcable.com or 541 312-4550) and I will bring requested books to a meeting or arrange for you to pick them up.  There will be a selection of books to check out at the meeting and you can return books to me there.   Thank you for your support of the Guild Library.
