Fat Quarter drawing for May- Kaffe
I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful weather! Maybe take
some of those quilts out for a picnic or a book read in the park. Did you
get a chance to shop hop? There were some beautiful fabrics and some
great deals to be had. Our raffle quilt was on display at BJ's and QuiltWorks.
If you’ve purchased quilt raffle tickets already,
thank you. Thanks also to the shop hoppers who sold tickets at QuiltWorks
and BJ’s. This month's meeting is scheduled to be great! Be sure to bring
in your show-and-tell. I would love to see some bright Spring-y colors!!!

months and counting . . . Instead
of asking for help, I’m happy to say that we are in good shape. Pris B. has
helped inform the quilters in the area by producing and distributing our Quilt Show Fliers and Bookmarks to the
area shops prior to April’s SHOP HOP.
Thank you, Pris! We are in
need of only ONE chairperson, that of the SET-UP Committee. Please consider filing this job
and you will be assisted by MANY guild members on the day of the show. There are a couple of people already
signed up to be on the committee, but we need a CHAIRPERSON also.
All Guild members, please plan to share in the set-up/take-down on
QUILT SHOW day! Many hands
make light work! Mark your
calendars for 8/10/13

Do you have some digital photos of guild events on your
computer that you would be willing to share? We would like pictures from this
year as well as past years. If so email them to Kayla H. If you have too many
to email, contact her for more info.
On June 10th, we will have our historical presentation/anniversary celebration
program. We will be waiving our guest fee for this meeting to
encourage former members to attend. If you know anyone you can invite to
attend, ask them to let us know at MBQG.email@example.com
– so we will be sure to set up enough chairs.
Quilt Challenge-Quilts Due July 15
Rosie W. and
Kathleen G. for Sylvia K.
Mount Bachelor Quilters’ Guild" is the 2013 Quilt Challenge theme. This is
a theme that allows you to use your imagination and have fun! Did you take a
guild workshop and have some leftover blocks you can use for something new, or
learn a technique that you have wanted to use again? Did a speaker or fellow
guild member show something you have wanted to try and haven’t got around to
doing? Was there a fun (or funny) experience you can portray in a
“picture” quilt? Was there someone in the guild who influenced you that you
would like to honor?
The dimensions for the quilt are to be a minimum of 36 inches on any side and a
maximum of 60 inches on any one side. Participants can use any type of
technique but all work must be done only by the entrant. All quilts entries are
due on or before the July Guild Meeting which will be on July 15 (note this is
the third Monday).
Quilts- Next Meeting May 15, 11-3 at Nativity Lutheran Church
Diana L., Bev P., Lora F., or Jean M.
Thanks to Guild members and Guild friends who made quilts, finished
quilts in one way or another, or donated fabric, we had 104 quilts to
distribute in April. The organizations receiving quilts were:
Cascade Youth, Partners in Care, The Kids Center, Saving Grace, and Ronald
McDonald House. We got many warm thank you's from the people at
The next Community Quilts day will be Wednesday, May 15th, from 11-3 at
Nativity Lutheran Church. Bev P is planning another Mystery Quilt, so we
hope that lots of Guild members will want to come. Bev has fabric
packets already made, so all you need to bring is a sewing machine and the
usual sewing supplies And your lunch! Be ready for a fun day.
You will be able to work with others as a team, or do a mystery quilt on
Finally: The church is located at the corner of SE Knott and SE
Brosterhaus. Additional directions to the church are on the Guild

you want to send a card, email me and I will send you the daughter’s mailing

Outdoor Quilt Show (SOQS) News- July 13
Contact Martha if you have any questions about hostessing for the
SOQS. Volunteers are still needed
to hostess and for other quilt show jobs.
I have recently become aware of two efforts to support the people of
Massachusetts after the horrific Boston bombings. I grew up about 12 miles from Boston, so this is personal to
me. I will be collecting and
shipping items for these two group efforts.
One is for fabric flags and is organized by the Vancouver Modern Quilt
Guild. See the info here: http://vancouvermodernquiltguild.ca/blog/2013/04/to-boston-with-love/. All the instructions for making the
flags are there. Flags are due to
me by the May 13th guild meeting. I will ship them on May 14th. The flags will be displayed in Boston
for a special Memorial Day celebration.
The other is a collection of quilt blocks for the Boston Modern Quilt
Guild. The info and instructions
are here: http://bostonmqg.blogspot.com/p/quilts-for-boston.html. I will be collecting these by May 21,
so the guild meeting would be the best time to get them to me. If you have any questions, email me at email@example.com. Thanks in advance!
